- Early Bird Author Registration – US$499 For authors keen on availing a $100 discount on the regular registration fee, early bird registration is recommended.
- Regular Author Registration – US$599 If the early bird deadline has been missed, authors can opt for the regular registration process.
- Listener Registration – US$499 Individuals interested in attending the conference to expand their knowledge and network can register as listeners.

Invitation Letter Support
Upon completing registration for the 21st International Conference on African Economics and Development, attendees may formally request an official letter of invitation from the conference secretariat. This letter is prepared on conference letterhead and includes key details such as the participant’s full name, institutional affiliation, conference title, location, and dates, providing immigration authorities with the context needed to assess the purpose of travel.
To request your invitation letter, simply contact the organizing team after your registration payment has been confirmed, providing your full legal name as it appears on your passport, your institutional or organizational affiliation, and any specific details required by your country’s visa application process. The secretariat aims to dispatch invitation letters promptly so that applicants have sufficient time to complete their visa procedures well before the conference dates.
It is important to note that the invitation letter issued by the conference secretariat serves solely as evidence of your accepted registration and intent to attend the 21st ICAED in Toronto, Canada. The issuance of this letter does not guarantee visa approval or entry into Canada in any way; all visa decisions rest exclusively with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the relevant consular authorities.

- Registration fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another person. If your visa is refused, you get 50% off one new registration for a later edition in your name.
- Your invitation letter is emailed within 3 to 5 business days after your payment is verified.

Authors working at the frontier of African economic and development research are warmly invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts to the 21st ICAED. Contributions that combine theoretical rigor with empirical grounding, and that speak directly to the lived realities of African economies, are especially encouraged.
Accepted work may be considered for the conference proceedings where applicable and is presented during the event in Toronto, Canada.

Paper and Abstract Submission
Authors are invited to submit abstracts, research papers, case studies, review papers or professional practice presentations.
All submissions are reviewed before acceptance. Submitted work should be original and not previously published.
For the 21st edition, papers can cover any of the conference tracks, for example Informal sector dynamics Africa, Digital economy and fintech adoption or Gender equity and economic inclusion.

Submission Guidelines
- Submissions must be written in English.
- Submissions must be original and relevant to the conference theme.
- Abstracts should clearly describe the purpose, method, findings and relevance of the work.
- Full papers should normally be between 4 and 12 pages.
- Authors must complete registration after acceptance to confirm participation.
Peer Review Details
Every manuscript submitted to the 21st ICAED undergoes a double-blind peer-review process in which at least two independent experts assess the work for scholarly rigor, originality, and relevance to African economics and development. Authors receive structured feedback regardless of the final decision, ensuring that the review process contributes constructively to the advancement of their research.

Best Paper Award
The Best Paper Award will be announced at the conference closing session. The winner will be rewarded with:
- The recipient of the Best Paper Award will receive an official certificate of excellence from the ICAED Scientific Committee, along with prominent recognition in the conference proceedings, the post-event newsletter, and across the conference’s digital platforms, providing lasting visibility for the researcher and their institution.
- In addition to the certificate, the Best Paper Award winner will be invited to submit an expanded version of their manuscript for expedited consideration in a partner peer-reviewed journal focused on African economics and development, offering a direct pathway from conference recognition to high-impact publication.
